I was driving through Plano on W Parker Road last weekend when I saw a drive through coffee shop I’d never seen before called Scooter’s Coffee. I guess you can tell I don’t spend a lot of time in Plano (I’m from nearby Dallas), because I quickly also noticed that their sign says the company was established way back in 1998!
The Scooter’s Coffee location I visited was drive through only. There was no seating area at all, and no walk up window, unlike some drive thru chains like Dutch Bros. or 151 Coffee, which are within 5 or 10 miles from this location.
I drove through and looked at the menu, which I took a photo of so you can see what they offer too.
I asked over the intercom if they sold decaf, and they said yes.
I ordered a small cappuccino and drove around and paid. The cappuccino was hot and well made, and the foam was correct.
I would describe the coffee as a very mainstream type of coffee. Not too bold. Nothing sour or fruity. Similar to what you might get at a Starbucks.
Overall, this would be a perfectly good place to pick up a coffee on your way to work, or when you’re out shopping. The drive through was fast and accurate and the employees were friendly and helpful. The cappuccino tasted good.
They also offer some food choices like breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, bagels, muffins and cinnamon rolls.
If you liked iced coffee or blended frozen coffee drinks, they have you covered there too and offer a wide selection, including non-coffee smoothies, and even matcha smoothies. Do you like cold nitro coffee? Iced tea, iced tea lattes and chai tea lattes are also available, as well as hot chocolate.
They don’t offer drip coffee, but they do have Americanos. You can get your standards like a latte or a cappuccino like I ordered if you want regular coffee drinks that aren’t so sweet.
They also have great hours, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days per week.
Overall, I’d choose this place over a drive through like McDonald’s any day, and I’d probably choose it over a Starbucks drive through because it’s a local chain as opposed to a national giant.
Definitely worth it if there’s one near you and you want a drive through coffee.
