Recently I realized that even Burger King serves iced coffee now. I’ve never tried it, but was curious to see if it was any good. I dropped by a Burger King not to far away from my workplace in Dallas and ordered both of the two iced coffee options. A vanilla iced coffee and a mocha iced coffee.
The fact that they only offer two options tells you that iced coffee is not a major product line for Burger King. It’s really more of a “do the minimum” checkbox type of product so that you’ll at least be able to order some kind of iced coffee if you eat there.
As far as the taste goes, I’d describe these iced coffees as adequate. There’s nothing wrong with them. You get some coffee flavor, along with sugar and milky flavors and either a vanilla or mocha taste to go with it. These are intended as sweet drinks, and that’s how they taste.
The Burger King mocha iced coffee has 20 percent more calories, with 240 calories for a medium mocha iced coffee versus just 200 calories for a medium vanilla iced coffee.
It turns out that I tasted the iced coffee options at Chick-fil-A the next day. They also aimed for an extremely limited iced coffee menu of just three options. But I have to say that all three of the Chick-fil-A iced coffees had a much bolder coffee taste even though they were all also only available as sweetened drinks.
My opinion with the Burger King iced coffee is that I would never drive to a Burger King to order one of these drinks. The only time I would drink one is if I had my heart set on an iced coffee and someone else I was eating with chose Burger King as their preferred restaurant. In that situation, I’d be satisfied enough with a Burger King iced coffee.
