If you are not a fan of coffee drinks, there is no reason to try every drink on this list, but if you’ve only ever had a cup of regular drip coffee from a machine, or perhaps coffee and espresso or cappuccino, there’s a good chance that you may find a coffee drink on this list that is more agreeable to your taste.
At the least, give this list a scan and see if there are a few drinks on it that you would like to try just to see if you like them. You can find most of these options at any coffee bar. Lots of delicious choices here!
Affogato
Affogato is a shot of espresso poured over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If anything can make coffee more palatable, it’s ice cream right?
Americano (also called Cafè Americano, or Espresso Americano)
An Americano is hot water with a shot of espresso poured into it, usually served in a Cappuccino cup. If espresso is a bit too strong for you, you might like Americano.
Cafè Au Lait
Cafè Au Lait is the traditional morning coffee of France. It is simply a dark roasted coffee, usually made in a french press instead of a coffee maker, mixed with warm milk and served in a large cup or bowl.
Caffè Latte
The Latte is the typical drink offered to those that don’t like regular coffee. The traditional Latte is a shot of espresso mixed with steamed milk with a little bit of milk foam poured over the top. There are flavored options available too for those with a sweet tooth. Flavors often help to cover the coffee flavor that non-coffee drinkers are opposed to. Try a Vanilla Latte, a White Chocolate Latte or a Caramel Latte (other popular flavors include Raspberry, Pumpkin Spice, Gingerbread, and Peppermint).
Caffè Mocha
A Caffè Mocha is just a Caffè Latte made with chocolate, usually chocolate syrup. Sometimes a Mocha is topped with whipped cream. The typical recipe starts with two ounces of chocolate syrup, which is closely followed by a shot or two of espresso, then steamed milk, which is then frothed and sometimes topped with whipped cream. If you like chocolate, there’s a good chance you will like a Caffè Mocha.
Cappuccino
If you don’t like coffee but have never had a Cappuccino, you should definitely give it a try. Cappuccinos are just a shot of espresso with milk which is heavily frothed into a foamy mixture. The coffee taste is undeniable, but it’s muted with frothed milk for a decadent creamy drink with a nice foamy texture.
Cold Brew Coffee
Cold brew coffee is very similar to regular drip coffee, except instead of using hot water to brew the beverage, cold brew uses cold water over coffee grounds, and extra time is allotted for the brew to strengthen.
Espresso
Espresso is a strong coffee drink made by forcing pressurized water through finely ground coffee. Espresso is served in single or double shots in a tiny, shot glass-sized coffee cup.
Espresso Con Panna
Espresso Con Panna means espresso with cream, and is usually just a shot of espresso topped with whipped cream. If espresso is too strong for your palette, try it with a bit of whipped cream.
Flat White
A Flat White is very similar to a Latte, but the milk is only lightly frothed, making it less foamy.
Frappè
A Frappè is an iced coffee beverage made with espresso, milk, and ice. Flavored options are also available. Frappè is often mixed in a blender, which is sometimes called a Blended Frappè, Starbucks calls them Frappuccinos.
Iced Coffee
Iced coffee is similar to a Frappè, but instead of espresso, it is made with regular drip coffee, or cold brew coffee. If you have only ever tried coffee warm, try a Frappè or an iced coffee.
Iced Latte
An iced latte is a mixture of ice, cold milk, and espresso, sometimes mixed with a flavored syrup or sugar, and served in a latte glass.
Iced Mocha
An iced mocha is the cold version of a Caffè Mocha. It is prepared like an iced latte, but garnished with whipped cream and chocolate syrup like a Caffè Mocha.
Irish Coffee
Irish coffee is an alcoholic beverage, so it’s not a beverage typically consumed for energy. Irish coffee is generally made by blending regular filter or drip coffee with Irish whiskey and topped with a small amount of whipped cream.
Lungo (also called Espresso Lungo)
A Lungo is a shot of espresso that is drawn out for a longer period with additional water (a process baristas refer to as pulled long). A Single Lungo is usually served in a espresso cup, while a Double Lungo is served in a cappuccino cup.
Macchiato (also called Espresso Macchiato)
A Macchiato is similar to a Latte, but with more foam. Sometimes the espresso shot is poured in last, after frothing the majority of milk into a foamy consistency. If you like foamy coffee drinks, this is your go-to.
Ristretto (also called Espresso Ristretto)
A Ristretto is the opposite of a Lungo. It is a short shot of espresso, or a quick shot of espresso which is also called pulled short.
Turkish Coffee (also called cà phê đá, or cafe da)
Turkish coffee is a type of coffee that is made with very finely ground coffee beans, made without using a filter, so there are grounds in the bottom of the cup.
Vietnamese Iced Coffee
Vietnamese Iced Coffee is a sweet iced coffee beverage made with a medium or dark-roasted coffee, condensed milk (often sweetened condensed milk) and ice.
There are more coffee drinks than the selections listed here in our complete list, but these are the main options that you will find at just about any coffee shop. If you are unfamiliar with the majority of coffee drinks on this list, you should probably try a few of them before you decide that you don’t like coffee at all, as it comes in many different forms, most of which are quite unique.
