I was recently at Dutch Bros, and I decided to try a few of the weird-sounding popular drinks that everyone seems to be drinking. The Shark Attack was at the top of the list because what even is it? The name gives you no real hints about what kind of a drink it even is.
Well, it turns out that the Shark Attack is NOT a coffee drink. It’s an energy drink. You can get it two different ways. Just as a drink with ice, or blended. I chose blended, because who doesn’t love blended ice types of drinks? They are so slurp-i-licious.
But “energy drink” still doesn’t tell you much. What’s in it? What does it taste like? What’s the point?

Dutch Bros doesn’t really say what the base of their “Rebel Energy Drink” consists of. They just give you a ton of different flavor options that all start from the Rebel Energy Drink base.
Here’s what makes it specifically a Shark Attack. They start with the base and add blue raspberry syrup, coconut syrup, lime syrup and then finally they top it off with pomegranate syrup. Sort of a tropical sounding mix of flavors, which means beach, which means sharks? No idea. I didn’t name this thing. I’m just trying to find a thread of logic to go with.
I ordered a small and chose blended. It tasted pretty darn good! It was like a very flavorful slurpee, but not as thick as a slurpee. You could see all kinds of color blobs in the drink because they blended it. I found it difficult to recognize any of those individual flavors, but would describe it as maybe fruity-good. I didn’t really taste the coconut, so it was not coconut heavy.
If you like the other Rebel Energy drinks at Dutch Bros, I suggest trying this one. I thought it was pretty good! I was not familiar at all with the Rebel Energy drinks before, and this was the first one I have tried. It might be hard to beat.
The truth is, I’m more of a regular coffee guy. I like the plain black Americano from Dutch Bros, and I usually drink it hot. I’m not looking to add a lot of liquid sugar calories into my diet, because I like to keep the carbs low so I don’t blow up like a whale.
But that doesn’t mean I didn’t LIKE the drink. It’s just a matter of avoiding sugar and carbs in my everyday life. This would be a good special occasion drink, or something that I’d pound after I went running or exercised to get fueled back up.
So what about calories? Here’s what you’ll get.
Large, 470 calories
Medium, 320 calories
Small, 270 calories
The drink has zero grams of fat.
Here’s how many carbs: large 117 grams, medium 79 grams, small 69 grams
Here’s how much sugar: large 113 grams, medium 77 grams, small 66 grams
